Anjali Nair is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) and holds a master’s degree in Forensic Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. She provides a holistic, trauma-informed and culturally-sensitive approach to treatment. She works with children and teenagers who have experienced abuse/neglect, trauma or familial difficulties and offers support in emotional regulation as well as personal, academic, and behavioural concerns. She also provides services to allow children and teenagers  to cope with eating disorders, anger management and body image issues. Furthermore, her work with adults includes offering counselling services related to concerns of depression, anxiety, sexual violence, domestic/relationship abuse, divorce or familial separation, substance use, self-harm and crisis intervention. Specifically her undergraduate thesis at Carleton University focused on domestic violence and its effects on children.

Anjali, was born and raised in the southern parts of India. She finds a deep sense of belonging to her Southern roots and cultural heritage. She enjoys spending time with her dog and family. As a gifted listener, she focuses on creating a safe haven for clients who can utilize the space for exploring their deeper truths and can continue growing into their best versions. Having travelled most of the world during her childhood, she expands her approach into different cultures, races and ethnicities always giving her clients a comfort of home.

Approach to Counselling

Anjali offers an empathetic, validating and emotionally aware approach to counselling. Her work is guided in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (TF-CB), Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT) and Emotion-focused Therapy (EFT). Additionally, her work often uses mindfulness-based techniques and an eclectic approach to therapy.
